CITB Funding Changes from January 2026

What’s Changing & Why

CITB will soon introduce major changes to its grants and funding programmes starting on the 8th January 2026. These measures are being taken for a number of different reasons:

  • The number of employers supported has increased by 36% since 2021
  • Levy rates have not increased in this period, this risks grant funding exceeding levy income
  • To ensure long‑term sustainability and focus support where it has greatest impact
  • For CITB to remain committed to supporting construction training

Details & Important Dates

From 8th January 2026:

Most short courses will no longer be funded under the Grants Scheme. Only courses under Plant Operations, Scaffolding, and other specialist courses remain eligible.

Support for short courses will move over to the ever-popular Employer Networks.

Level 7 qualifications starting after 8 December 2025 will no longer be supported, but apprenticeships and Scottish Advanced Craft Certifications are unaffected.

Between 8th January and 31st March 2026:

Training booked before 8th December 2025 & delivered before 8th January, will receive the current grant rate.

Anything booked before the 8th December 2025 & delivered after 8th January 2026 will be on a case-by-case basis decided by CITB largely dependent on evidence of booking date.

From 1st April 2026:

A new large-employer fund will be launched for employers with 250+ employees. They will no longer access support via Employer Networks after 31 March 2026.

Immediate Actions for Employers

If you’ve booked grant support training before 8th December 2025, or completed it by 7th January 2026, there is no action needed & your funding remains unchanged.

If training is booked before 8 Dec 2025 but delivered between 8th Jan – 31st Mar 2026, you must provide evidence of booking to secure the current grant rate.

For new short-duration funding & training via Employer Networks, contact your CITB Adviser to arrange support.

Large employers (250+ staff) should ensure any EN-supported training is completed by 31st March 2026.

Ongoing Support

We’re proud to be part of the CITB Training Provider Network and Employer Network, which means we’re perfectly positioned to support you with booking any upcoming training for you and your team.

As Employer Network bookings come directly from CITB following approval, the funding process is handled automatically, leaving only a small amount of admin for the remaining portion. This makes the whole experience smooth and hassle-free.

If you’re looking for guidance or have any questions, CITB is always ready to help. They have a vast network of resources and support available, so whether it’s training options, funding queries, or compliance advice, they’re your go-to partner.
